Vice President and General Manager of VenAmCham and Editor in Chief
of Business Venezuela since June 1990. A venezuelan citizen born
in Havana, he graduated from the Georgetown University School of
Foreign Service in Washington D.C. He has served as AACCLA´s
Vice President for Executive Management since January 2002
After graduating, he worked six years with the ABC Television and
Radio Network as Associate Producer of "Issues and Answers",
a weekly interview program, and Field Producer for News and Special
Events. He later moved to Caracas as an independent consultant in
public affairs, international trade and real estate. He served as
Commissioner in the Government of the Federal District, and Secretary
General and Director of International Affairs of the Ministry of
Information and Tourism, during which time he was President of the
OAS Tourism Commission.
He later joined the Cisneros Group of Companies as Assistant to
the President and in 1983, he was named Director for Institutional
Relations, a position he held until coming to VenAmCham. He held
leadership positions during this period with the Venezuelan Council
on Industry (Conindustria); the Venezuelan Federation of Business
Chambers (FEDECAMARAS); and the Interamerican Trade and Production
Council (CICYP).
A historian, he has published several works on Simón Bolivar,
and is President of Venezuela´s Genealogical Institute.
He has received several awards from the government of Venezuela,
including the Orden Francisco de Miranda and the Orden al Mérito
en el Trabajo, both first class. He is bilingual in Spanish and
English and also speaks Portuguese and French. He is married fo
the former Carolina Stone Tovar, and has two children Laura Maria
and Antonio Jorge, and two grandchildren.
